📖 Crime and Punishment Novel Hindi Audiobook — Hindi Audiobook ke Baare Mein
Crime and Punishment is one of the great novels of world literature, and one of the most intense psychological journeys ever put on paper. Written by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky and first published in 1866, it follows a young man who commits a terrible act and then must live inside his own mind as guilt, fear, pride and conscience pull him apart. This Hindi audiobook, which runs about 10 hours 34 minutes, brings the story to listeners who want to experience this classic in their own language.
What makes the novel remarkable is that the crime happens early. The suspense does not lie in who did it, because the reader knows from the start. The real drama lies in what happens afterwards inside the criminal's heart and mind, and in the slow, tense game between him and the people around him.
The story
Rodion Raskolnikov is a former student living in a tiny, cramped room in St. Petersburg. He is poor, proud, feverish and isolated. He has developed a theory that certain extraordinary individuals have the right to step over moral boundaries if doing so serves a greater purpose. Tormented by poverty and by this idea, he decides to kill an old pawnbroker whom he regards as useless and harmful. The act does not unfold as he imagined, and from that moment his life becomes a struggle between his theory and his conscience.
Around him Dostoevsky gathers an unforgettable cast. There is Razumikhin, his loyal and good-hearted friend; his devoted mother and his sister Dunya, who is prepared to make sacrifices for the family; Sonya Marmeladova, a gentle young woman forced into a degrading life by her family's poverty, whose quiet faith deeply affects Raskolnikov; and Porfiry Petrovich, a sharp and patient investigator whose conversations with Raskolnikov are among the most gripping scenes in literature. We will not reveal how these threads come together.
Major themes
Guilt and conscience. Dostoevsky shows that punishment does not begin in a courtroom. Raskolnikov's real torment is internal: fever, paranoia, sudden swings of mood and the unbearable weight of a secret.
The danger of a cold theory. The novel tests the idea that a superior person can justify crime for a higher cause. Through Raskolnikov's experience, Dostoevsky explores what happens when abstract reasoning ignores the value of every human life.
Suffering and redemption. A central question is whether a person who has done something terrible can find a path back to humanity. Sonya represents compassion and the possibility of renewal through suffering and love.
Poverty and the city. The St. Petersburg of the novel is hot, crowded and full of drunkards, debtors and desperate families. Dostoevsky paints a vivid picture of how poverty presses on dignity and morality.
Pride and isolation. Raskolnikov cuts himself off from others, and much of the novel examines how loneliness and pride feed each other.
Who should listen
This audiobook is ideal for lovers of literature, students of English or world literature, readers interested in psychology and philosophy, and anyone who enjoys suspenseful stories with deep moral questions. Fans of crime fiction will also appreciate how Dostoevsky turns a detective story inside out.
About the author
Fyodor Dostoevsky lived from 1821 to 1881. As a young man he was arrested for involvement with a radical intellectual circle, faced a mock execution and then spent years in a Siberian prison camp followed by military service in exile. These experiences profoundly shaped his views on suffering, faith and human freedom. His other major works include Notes from Underground, The Idiot, Demons and The Brothers Karamazov. He is regarded as one of the greatest novelists of all time.
Why listen in Hindi
Russian names, long dialogues and philosophical passages can make the novel challenging on the page. Listening to Crime and Punishment in Hindi allows you to follow the characters and their inner struggles more easily and to feel the story's emotional force directly.
It is a demanding but deeply rewarding story that stays with you long after the last chapter.
