Homo Deus in Hindi

by Yuval Noah Harari

📖 Homo Deus in Hindi — Hindi Audiobook ke Baare Mein

What happens to humanity once it has largely tamed the old enemies of famine, plague and war? That is the provocative question at the heart of Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow by Yuval Noah Harari. Written as a follow-up to his bestseller Sapiens, it turns from the human past to possible human futures. This Hindi audio version offers a compact way to meet the book's main arguments.

What the book is about

Harari begins by arguing that, for most of history, people's top concerns were hunger, epidemics and violence. He does not claim these problems have vanished, but he argues that in much of the world they have become manageable challenges rather than unavoidable fate. Having gained this much control, he suggests, humanity is likely to set itself new and far more ambitious goals: defeating ageing and death, engineering lasting happiness, and upgrading human abilities with biotechnology and computing. In that sense, Homo sapiens may try to turn itself into "Homo Deus", a god-like human.

The book then looks back to ask how humans came to dominate the planet and how we give meaning to our lives, before turning to what may happen when our own technologies start to outperform us.

Key ideas from the book

Humanism as a modern faith. Harari describes humanism, the belief that human feelings and experiences are the ultimate source of meaning and authority, as a kind of religion that has shaped modern politics, art, economics and ethics. Phrases such as "listen to your heart" or "the customer is always right" reflect this outlook.

Organisms as algorithms. Drawing on the life sciences, Harari points out that many scientists now describe living beings, including humans, as biochemical algorithms that process information. If that view is right, he asks, what becomes of free will and the individual self that humanism places at the centre?

The rise of a "useless class". One of the most debated arguments in Homo Deus is that artificial intelligence and automation could make large numbers of people economically unnecessary, not just in factories but in skilled professions too. Harari presents this as a warning and a question for society rather than a certainty.

Dataism. Harari describes an emerging outlook he calls Dataism, which treats the universe as flows of data and judges everything by its contribution to information processing. In such a world, he suggests, people might increasingly trust algorithms that know them better than they know themselves.

Inequality of the future. If expensive enhancements become available, Harari warns that biological and technological upgrades could create deeper divisions than any in history.

Harari repeatedly stresses that these are possibilities, not prophecies. His aim is to widen the conversation so that readers can think about which futures they want.

Who should listen

Homo Deus suits students of history, sociology and technology, UPSC aspirants preparing essays and ethics papers, software and data professionals who work close to AI, and anyone who wonders how smartphones, social media and genetic research might reshape everyday life in India and the world.

About the author

Yuval Noah Harari is an Israeli historian who teaches at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and earned his doctorate at the University of Oxford. He became internationally known for Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, and later wrote 21 Lessons for the 21st Century and Nexus. Harari has spoken about practising Vipassana meditation, a technique taught widely in India, and credits it with helping him focus. Yuval Noah Harari's style is clear, wide-ranging and deliberately provocative.

Why listen in Hindi

Big ideas about technology and the future can feel abstract in English. Listening to Homo Deus in Hindi lets you follow Harari's reasoning naturally and discuss it with family and friends in your own language. This Hindi audiobook runs about 32 minutes, so it works well as an introduction before or after reading the full book.

Listen, question his arguments, and decide for yourself what kind of future humanity should build.
